Who We Are

Built on HOPE
Driven by Action

It all began in 2021. The world was gripping with the devastating second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, and our hometown needed hands on the ground. We came together as a spontaneous group of volunteers under the name Asansol COVID Fighters. Our only goal back then was survival that includes helping neighbors find oxygen cylinders, arranging hospital beds, distributing rations, and being a lifeline for families trapped in isolation.

We never planned to become a registered NGO. There was no grand strategy or long-term blueprint; we were just ordinary citizens responding to an extraordinary crisis.

However, as the pandemic began to recede, the deep-rooted socio-economic fractures it left behind became impossible to ignore. We realized that while the virus was fading, the structural hunger, educational gaps, and gender inequalities were widening. Driven by the immense love, trust, and support we received from the community, we couldn't just walk away. The "fighters" evolved, channeling that same crisis-born urgency into structured, long-term community development.

Today, we have grown into a dedicated organization running impactful flagship initiatives like Oorja - Children Education and Development, Naritva - Empowering the women of today for a better tomorrow. From running community kitchens that combat daily hunger to dismantling menstrual taboos and fostering grassroots entrepreneurs, we continue to fight, no longer just against a virus, but for a more equitable, dignified, and progressive society. Alongside these core programs, we run several other community-driven initiatives actively contributing toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring our local efforts align with a global blueprint for a sustainable and just future.

Our Mission

"We strive to ignite lasting community progress through holistic child development, women’s empowerment, and targeted sustainable development initiatives."

Breaking Barriers: Dismantling health, hygiene, and menstrual stigmas while providing essential nutrition, medical guidance, and food security.

Fostering Independence: Equipping women with financial literacy, vocational skills, and micro-resources to create resilient grassroots entrepreneurs.

Nurturing Potential: Providing underprivileged children with free educational assistance, mentorship, and dynamic life experiences that build confident, empathetic future leaders.

Driving Global Goals: Designing and executing localized initiatives that actively contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring our grassroots impact drives broader global progress.

Our Vision

"To build an inclusive, self-reliant, and sustainable society where no individual is held back by hunger, gender, or social circumstance, fostering a world where every woman and child has the dignity, health, and opportunity to thrive in alignment with global goals for a better tomorrow."
